Director's Spotlight

Kate FioravantiMrs. Kate Fioravanti
Interim Director, Arts Magnet Middle School

Kate Fioravanti just completed her 20th year in education and her whole career has been dedicated to public schools of choice in New London. After earning her Bachelors in Music Education, she began teaching at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School. She was then selected to be a founding teacher of ISAAC (the Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication) and taught music, opera, visual arts and dance. She received her MA and EdM in Education Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College, and became part of the administrative Leadership Team at ISAAC as Head Teacher in 2006.

She came to New London Public Schools in 2013 in the role of Artistic Dean to open Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School as the elementary (K-5) portion of the Arts Magnet Pathway. The following year, she became the District Arts Supervisor, supporting all schools' arts programs in the district while developing the full K-12 Arts Magnet Pathway. She is honored to have begun her new role as Director of Arts Magnet Middle School, and excited to welcome both the students continuing in, as well as new students joining the Arts Magnet Pathway for grades 6-12.

Mrs. Fioravanti herself has been immersed in arts. She is a singer who has performed at Carnegie Hall, an actress playing roles such as "Daisy Mae" in L'il Abner and "Julie Jordan" in Carousel, and studied at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. She knows from experience (as a student and an educator) that students succeed best when they love school, are able to develop their interests, and feel part of and help develop a warm, welcoming culture.

To contact Mrs. Fioravanti, email, or call 860-447-6032.  She looks forward to hearing from and connecting with every family at AMMS!
